PV project portfolio for oilfield load and solar steam generation (SSG)

California | Multiple Sites / Confidential Developers / 2017 - 2019

Provided technical consulting and design services for the SSG project developer / technology provider, and multiple oilfield operators seeking to implement solar steam generation for enhanced oil production and solar PV for onsite power generation.

MW-scale solar PV is coupled with the SSG to offset both the SSG and oilfield operational loads.

Services include systems siting & design, interconnection support, and general program management & OE services to oversee and support all phases of project implementation.

Belridge Solar: The project would consist of an 850 MW solar thermal facility, generating 12 million barrels of emissions-free steam per year, and a 26.5 MW photovoltaic facility, generating electricity. Aera will use the solar-generated steam and electricity onsite, saving 4.87 billion cubic feet of natural gas.

As a result, the Belridge Solar project will save more than 376,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year (GlassPoint Solar, 2018). Update 2020 – the SSG project was cancelled but the solar PV sites continue toward development and implementation.
