Darío Mirabal Herrera

Originally from Venezuela, Dario moved to Santa Cruz, California right after high school to follow his dream of becoming an engineer. His passion for outdoor activities like surfing, hiking and snowboarding made him realize that he could make a difference and create a positive environmental impact.

Initially, he started his college path in Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz, where he was first exposed to science classes and social/environmental problems. As a result, he was fascinated by both topics, so he decided to pursue a B.S in Chemical Engineering and an A.S in Philosophy. After finishing Cabrillo College, he transferred to San Jose State university to complete his Chemical Engineering degree. Currently, he is in his last semester and very excited to enter the working world. Parallelly, he gained experience in the water and energy industries.

He volunteered at the Santa Cruz Water Treatment Plant, where he performed important water tests, such as: TOC, TSS, THMS. He gained significant experience in the analysis of data that improved the efficiency of the plant.

Dario also served as an Engineer Intern at Mynt Systems. He gained experience in the energy industry and helped design PV systems and contributed to renewable energy projects.

He obtained the LEED Green Associate certification to expand his knowledge of sustainability and he ultimately wants to keep completing LEED certification programs.

Dario is dedicated to using his chemical engineering degree to solve social and environmental problems with energy efficiency and green building. He believes there is a lot of opportunity to create more sustainable communities that will ultimately increase the quality of life of the people and the planet. Ultimately, Dario wants to become an expert in his field, so he can take project manager positions. In addition, to create a positive impact to our environment by implementing renewable energy systems. He is very excited that his passions and expertise align with OurEnergy mission and ready to contribute to the multiple projects available.
