Dustin Jolley, PE, LEED AP

Mr. Jolley has over 20 years of experience as a Civil/Environmental Engineer and has dedicated his career to the advancement of renewable energy and sustainable development. He has held positions in academic R&D, Public Service, and the Private sector. Mr. Jolley is an experienced engineer, business developer, strategist, and project/program manager. He is accomplished in organizations from start-ups to large corporations and has held leading technical and managerial roles implementing over a gigawatt of renewable power generation. This work has employed technologies including solar PV & thermal, biomass, wind, hydro, fuel cells, storage technologies and hybrids. He has overseen all aspects of project development from concept to commissioning and asset management. He is an expert in distributed generation, hybrid renewables and micro/smart grid technologies. His civil engineering and sustainable systems experience also includes major civil projects such as green buildings & facilities, water & utility infrastructure including transmission/distribution, pipelines, pump stations, tunnels, dams/reservoirs and hydroelectric projects.
Mr. Jolley now leads a private development services company - OurEnergy, and practices consulting services with the team at Sage Energy Consulting. Mr. Jolley also sits on the Board of Directors at Solar Head of State, an NGO whose flagship program is promoting renewables in Small Island Developing States. He is passionate about implementing local and appropriate technology solutions, particularly for communities, tribes, islands, and in emerging markets where the work will contribute to the greatest social/environmental impact.

In the R&D space, he worked as a Research Engineer at the Schatz Energy Research Center (SERC) on hydrogen fuel cell systems, hydrogen and electric vehicles, and other hybrid renewable energy systems, conversion and storage technologies.

In public service, he served as the Tribal Engineer and technical advisor for the Yurok Tribe, a Native Sovereign Nation in northern CA. In that role, he oversaw the implementation of an array of projects which brought water, telecommunications, sanitary services, transportation, environmental restoration, and energy services to underserved tribal communities. The success of that work required cultural awareness and interpersonal skills, and complex logistical, technical and financial partnering with communities, local & federal agencies, and private companies.

In the private sector, he served as the Renewable Energy Practice Leader-Americas for URS/AECOM, one of the largest global full service environmental, engineering and construction firms, where his clients included Utilities & IPPs, corporations, and public & Federal agencies. Mr. Jolley was instrumental in establishing and growing the practice from a niche segment to a significant market-share holding business and a diverse international network of practitioners, with consulting revenues of over $20M/yr and representing over $1B/yr in new renewables and modern power generation and infrastructure.

Mr. Jolley has a degree in Environmental Resources Engineering from Humboldt State University. He is a registered professional Civil engineer (PE) in multiple states, a certified energy auditor (CEA) and a LEED Accredited Professional.
His work has spanned the spectrum from personally designing and installing the smallest stand-alone remote hybrid power and water projects to key roles in some of the largest utility projects and programs ever built. He has been honored to be the recipient of several awards and recognitions including from the US Congress & Senate, USEPA, USDOE, private industry, and NGOs for contribution to our energy future.
